Job Description

As a member of the Finance Systems Operation (FSO) team, the Business Systems Analyst position is a challenging and broad role for individuals who want exposure to VMware’s entire financial systems infrastructure and are able to utilize systems and business analysis skills to actively contribute to project implementations. The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with the Finance Operations, the Finance and IT teams worldwide on a variety of issues across all Finance systems including implementing new finance initiatives, new finance applications and supporting the General Ledger automation tool for reconciliations and close task management. The Business Systems Analyst will support the finance community by doing functional setups for Oracle financials and also assist the FSO team based in Bangalore with project implementations to enhance and automate accounting processes. The Business Analyst will work closely with the Finance Systems Operations team and affected departments to implement any new solutions/ processes and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • To support Key Finance system such as Oracle.
  • Work on key initiatives and operational issues in Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and FA/GL tracks.
  • Liase with IT on ongoing cross functional company wide key initiatives such as Oracle R12 project, Upstream System Initiatives that impact Finance.
  • Also contribute to new set of books implementations within Oracle.
  • Provide support for Finance systems as Finance implements new solutions.
  • Analyse the requirements, prepare the BRDs, test trackers, and coordinate testing.
  • Perform Oracle functional setups to support the global shared services model.
  • Work closely with the Finance Operations, the Finance team and IT worldwide staff to implement solutions.
  • Work closely with Support team on operational issues that are related to Oracle functional set ups.
  • Help IT team to apply patches and fixes to the existing system. Liaise with IT and Business to test the expected results and publish the same.
  • Participate in CRP and UAT testing for various projects to compare actual with expected results and liaise with IT to resolve bug fixes.
  • Assist in creating test logins in Test instance during CRP and UAT phases.
  • Prepare end-user training and technical documentation.
  • Train end-users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters in MIS, Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Economics (other majors OK with requisite experience) with at least 2 years of experience (masters degree) 5 years of experience (bachelors degree) in a financial systems or similar role.
  • Experience in implementing or using any reporting / analytical systems is required.
  • Experience in implementing or using Oracle discoverer, FSG, Oracle Business intelligence, HFM, etc. is preferred.
  • Combination of experience in systems/IT working with accounting or finance a plus.
  • Experience working with remote teams and management strongly preferred.
  • Financial system knowledge required. Oracle applications knowledge including GL, AP, AR Projects, Cash Mgmt, and FA is preferred.
  • Experience of supporting business during Month End Closures preferred.
  • Prior experience performing business process analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of Toad and SQL a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people using strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Excel required.
